This is something relatively new to my beauty regimen but WOW does it make a difference. Some of you might be wondering what in the F is Chelsea talking about - dry brushing? What are you brushing? Your hair? .. Trust me, I had all of those questions.
I came across dry brushing from another blogging gal and was super intrigued. So, I hopped on Dr Google and did some investigating. Dry brushing has many benefits including stimulating the lymphatic system, eliminating toxins by increasing blood circulation to your skin, calming the mind and energizing the body. And one more, helps reduce the appearance of cellulite. Can I get a hallelujah?!
But first - about the brush. You can find the brush that I used here. I wanted a brush that had a long handle so that I could reach allll the places. I also like that on this brush, you can remove the head of the brush so that it can easily be held it your hand. I'm going to get into my dry brushing routine here in a minute.
After perusing Amazon and finding the perfect brush, I was in search of a great body lotion. *Enter Ever skincare body butter here!* As y’all know I am absolutely in love with my current skincare regimen with Ever Skincare, so I was hoping
I’d be able to use some of their products when dry brushing! I ordered two products to help with smoothing my skin - Polish Lemon Sugar Body Scrub and Lavish Ultra Rich Body Butter. If you use this link, you can get $10 off your first order.
Now - lets get into the details. I dry brush ONLY in the mornings. My primary reason for this is because I don't want to be all energized at night - I need all the help I can get in the A.M. LOL!
I dry brush standing in the shower - no water on, remember its dry brushing - right before I take a shower. If you want your dead skin cells all over your house, feel free to brush wherever you feel, but for me, its in the shower. Starting at my feet, I apply pressure to the brush and brush TOWARDS my heart. No matter where I am brushing - arms, legs, back - I brush TOWARDS my heart. (I read that if you brush away, it could cause some damage to veins. I'm assuming that's true but haven't had anyone fact check me!) Long, slow brushes will get the job done! When brushing my stomach, I brush in counterclockwise strokes around my belly button. Remember, your skin is very sensitive on your chest, so do not apply a ton of pressure and just brush how/where you are comfortable!
Then.. I shower and go about my regular shower routine.

At some point, I will use the Polish Lemon Sugar Body Scrub on my rough spots. These spots, for me, are primarily on the back of my arms and my calves. I don't use much - a little goes a long way! I just lightly scrub and then rinse the product off.

Now - this stuff is the BOMB. After I shower and get dried off, I immediately apply this body butter to wherever I can reach. And 100% apply to those places that I used the body scrub. My boyfriend says this stuff smells like chocolate. I'm not certain what it smells like, but its freaking amazing! OBSESSED to say the least. I will definitely be gifting LAVISH this holiday season!
And, THAT'S IT! Super easy and super effective. I do this routine about twice a week. If you know me, you know that I don't wash my hair every day but I definitely shower! Ain't nobody trying to be stinky!
I hope ya'll found this to be helpful! I'd love to hear what you do to keep your skin looking healthy and full of color!
XO-
Chelsea
